Finland Approves New Military Aid Package for Ukraine
"Ukraine is preparing for the coming winter and needs all our support. Finland has today decided on the 34th support package with defense materiel to Ukraine, worth 290 million euros ($334 million)," Stubb wrote on social media.
The Finnish president said the latest assistance includes equipment and other defense materials that Ukraine has identified as urgently needed as it prepares for another winter amid the ongoing war.
"Ukraine's defense struggle is now in its fifth year. We support Ukraine because it is morally right and because it concerns the security of all of Europe, and thus also Finland," Stubb added.
The announcement follows earlier plans by Helsinki and Kyiv to expand cooperation in drone production. In August, Stubb said the two countries could soon reach an agreement under which Finland would direct 90% of its drone production to Ukraine.
He described the proposed arrangement as beneficial to both sides and compared the initiative with Denmark’s approach of providing direct financing to Ukrainian defense-industry companies.
Stubb has also outlined five major areas of defense cooperation between Finland and Ukraine: maritime security, air capabilities, land forces, cyber defense and space.
The latest package reflects Finland’s continued commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities while expanding bilateral defense cooperation across several strategic sectors.
