Trump Unveils USD22.3B Texas Gas Plant, 8 Nuclear Reactors

(MENAFN) President Donald Trump on Wednesday unveiled a sweeping package of energy infrastructure projects, anchored by a multibillion-dollar natural gas power facility in Texas, eight new nuclear reactors and the advancement of the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump framed the package as historic in scale.

“We’re thrilled to announce one of the largest energy infrastructure investments in American history," Trump told reporters.

The headline item is a proposed $22.3 billion, 6.5-gigawatt natural gas power plant in Encinal, Texas. Trump said the facility would rank among the biggest gas-fired plants ever built.

He also outlined plans for eight large nuclear reactors, which he said would bolster America's standing in the global nuclear energy sector.

“The natural gas power plant in Texas will be among the largest ever built,” he said. “The eight new nuclear reactors will solidify our position as the world’s leader in nuclear power.”

The third pillar is the Alaska LNG project, which Trump said would boost the country's capacity to produce and transport liquefied natural gas.

"And by building the Alaska LNG pipeline, we’ll deliver nearly 4 billion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas per day," he said.
